Is it normal that my boyfriend wants our relationship to stay secret?

He broke up with his girlfriend a couple of days before we started dating, and he said he wanted to keep it a secret because of the fact that all of the rumors spreading around our school is what broke him and his ex up. I don't mind keeping it a secret, but when I'm hanging out with my friends it's hard not to act like he's my boyfriend. Especially since we're thinking about becoming sexually active soon. Do you think I should tell him to make it public? Is it normal to stay secret but be in a relationship serious enough for sex?

    He is using you!! If he really cared about you he wouldn't care who knew you two were seeing each other. He is going to drop you like a bag of rocks as soon as someone "better" comes around. Don't have sex with him and see if he still wants to secretly date you. I'd bet money that he has no interest in you with your clothes on. And if he seems to it is only because he knows he has a good chance of getting in your pants. Get some self respect and demand better for yourself! There is someone out there who will be proud to be your boyfriend.

    If he loves you he will let you know, i think you should tell him to shut up about his ex and get on in your new relationship with you. Rumors are pointless if your strong as a couple (secret or not) and if your ready for sex (PROTECTED!!!!) you can get through this together, always be sure there is love before the funky times <3 good luck x

    No. No no no no no. Under no circumstances should you sleep with this guy until he has made your relationship public. Him not letting you tell your close friends is suspect. I'm not saying he's definitely playing you but guys go to much greater lengths than a secret relationship to get sex.

    Yeah he probably is trying to avoid problems but that shouldn't be your problem it's his ex not yours so stand up for yourself and tell him you don't want to be anyones dirty little secret... if he doesn't understand that girl there is plenty of fish in the sea... trust me plenty...
