Is it normal that my boyfriend thinks i don't talk enough.

I have been with him on and off for about a year now and I really do love him but he keeps telling me that I need to talk to him more. I have been really trying to talk to him as much as possible but it just doesn't seem to be enough. I like a lot of things he just finds weird such as anime, ball joint dolls, and Gothic Lolita clothing. It's hard to think of things to talk to him about when it just seems like other than music we have no interests in common and I've tried telling him that. Someone suggested to me that I might be nervous around him but I don't have any reason to be other than that he is very popular and I'm basically nothing in comparison but that hadn't ever bothered me.
Is it normal for him to continue to break up with me or try and have sex with me when right away when we are done he is going to tell me that I don't talk enough?

I vote 'yes' on everything because I think the entire spectrum of human activity is "normal" ("typical" is another matter, but "normal" is just about everything), but on this one, I have to say no.

It sounds to me like you two don't have very much in common. Don't let him guilt you into lying to him. That's not good for either of you.

But by all means, DON'T cheat on him. At least do him the honor of breaking up with him to his face like a grown woman. Yeah, he'll take it bad and whine and cry, but in the long run, you *both* deserve to be with people who get you and like doing the things you like to do.

  • He is very convincing. When I say no he doesn't take it as no he takes it as keep trying.
I felt very unloved for a while so when he tells me he loves me I also have trouble saying no.
