Is it normal that my boyfriend and i always eat dinner with the tv on

So from reading articles in woman's magazines it seems that it's a bad thing to eat dinner with the TV, they say that you don't connect as a couple. We have the TV on most all the time my boyfriend is particularly fond of the history channel. We also have two laptops that we are on most of the time. I don't really see an issue with tv being on most of the time or each of us being on the pc and I don't see how this could have any sort of negative impact on our relationship. We have plenty of time to talk, before bed,, during car rides etc. He likes to play world of warcraft and I like to play jewel quest, everyone has hobbies.

I think it's normal to have the tv while you eat. I do it because it drowns out other people chewing noises.

Do you not value that time?
What about going out to eat? Only at places where there are tvs?
