Is it normal that my bf of over 5 years doesn't want to help me

Iv been with my boyfriend for over five years. Recently while I was at work someone came and told me my truck had a flat tire so I went out and saw a nail in my tire. My boyfriend has been out of work for over a year and had a job working on cars so I called him and asked if he could come change my tire because I was working a 16 hour shift and wouldn't get off till 1045 pm. When I asked if he could help me he said I should call a roadside assistance place because he couldn't help me because he had to get out of bed and take a shower it was 1:30 in the afternoon. When I asked if he could help me later when he got up because I couldn't really afford a roadside assistance place he became upset with me and said I needed 2 try and find someone else to help. Am I over reacting when I get upset or are my feelings valid.

My sisters husband is this way.
Not good, not good at all.
Try talking to him about this and possibly give him some conditions in the relationship to motivate him to help you out. If he doesn't stick to these conditions, the relationship isn't probably worth much to him. If it is, he will become more pro active. Unless you like couch potatoes, I find them to be a bit stale myself.

What a douchebag! My husband is an automotive and diesel Mechanic and if he was unemployed and I needed help, he'd be by my side. Hell, I locked my keys in my car one day and he took a few minutes off of work and came to unlock it for me with this special tool they have. Your man is a lazy slob! SMH

Goodness what a douche. I'm not even technically officially "with" the guy I've been seeing but when I needed help he still drove out 2 hours just to get my sorry ass.

Sounds like he needs to get his life on track. I would consider getting out of there before he has the chance to drag you down too. :/

He sounds like he was too lazy to drive out and help. He should of come out to help you. You really should not be with this loser anymore.

My husband isn't a mechanic. He's studying to be an Accountant. He'd still do it for me =/ He's had to do it for himself plenty of times.

I would deeply question the character of this guy after this and make some hard choices! How do you think he would react to future really hard things he will have to do in life? Most likely let you down even worse!

By the way, how did this end up getting resolved? Did you have to call the roadside assistnace to get your tire fixed at 10:45pm?

He sounds like a lazy bastard. When I was a teenager my dad taught me to change tires myself. Usually what happens to me is I start changing my tire and then some guy shows up and helps me.

I realize he's not obligated to do this for me. It's seldom that I ask him to do anything usually it's him asking me to do stuff and I didn't change the tire myself because I have a concession and get dizzy when I bend over

One thing I don't get. Why would you need roadside assistance to change a tire?

Yeah that's crappy of him. My boyfriend has fixed my flat tires and helped scrape me off the side of the road so many times, any time I have had car trouble, in town or even 45 min away he would come help me. Especially since your bf has automotive work he should help you! I'd dump him! Or at least talk to him about it and tell him it really hurt your feelings and make an ultimatum that he has to treat you better than that.
