Is it normal that my bf locked himself in the bathroom to cry?

Do men ever just break down and have a crying fit?
My bf has never ever cried in front of me before, he's actually a bit of a hardass that way, he has never been a very expressive person who gets really happy or really sad.
Three nights ago I came home early and he was locked in the bathroom sobbing his eyes out until he threw up. Then he just brushed it off and won't talk to me about it.
I know it's seen as "unmanly" to cry, so do guys bundle it up then crash every once in a while?

Men are humans and have emotions, too. I can't stand the pressure men are put under by society to never express their emotions. It's so damaging.

It's absolutely normal for them to cry, but it sounds like it's something he's been holding in and finally just broke down. Sounds serious, have a talk.

Something must be eating up at him to break down like that and not be able to share it.

He might be gay... It's unusual for a straight man to act like an emotional woman

Sounds like it must be something really traumatic. You can't force him to tell you, but you can help him feel safe with you. Show him that you don't mind him being weak. That he can share anything and you'll still love him.
Sometimes just having a shoulder to cry on can be very therapeutic.
    Us men need that too.

Don't mind him "being weak"? Yeah, that'll certainly make him feel safe with her NOT

Obvioussly she doesen't have to say it like that.
Although I personally experienced it this way. As a man you feel weak when you cry anyway. So to me it meant a lot when my gf told me I don't have to be strong with her. All you need to hear is that it's okay. It's so much more freeing than the old "You have to be strong now.".
Sorry if the word "weak" seemed like an insult, it wasn't meant to be.

Why wouldn't it be not normal for men like us to cry once in a while?? I can't understand how much pressure society really has put on us all these days for both men and women.. Also you should open up to him more often. ;)

I can't remember when last I cried. Can't remember when last I expressed emotion such as overly happy or overly sad. Come to think of it, I don't think I have ever felt the feeling of expressing myself when overly happy.
Trust me, the last thing guys like this want is to "talk about it".
Don't know why though. It's probably easier that way
