My best friend is a 13 year old girl. I'm an 18 year old boy... Let me explain:

We met at a carnival a few months ago. One of my friends was hanging out with her friend, so we got stuck together. Neither of our friends wanted to ride the Zipper, and you need at least two people to ride, so we rode together. We started talking. My friend left, her friend left.

She's actually a pretty cool kid, I could tell from the first few minutes I was with her. So before she had to leave I gave her my number and told her to text me. She gave me a funny look but she took my number and we texted almost all night.

Now it's a few months later and we're practically inseperable. My friends have gotten used to it by now, and they even like her, but I swear her ma still thinks I'm a perv. I'm short for my Age (5'3) and she's tall for her's (5'7) so some people thinks she's older than me.

I worry about her all the time. She's like a mini me. IIN?

    I don't see anything wrong with though others, like her mom, will see it as such. Keep on your toes.

    I can see why her mom thinks you're a perv. My best friend and I once met this guy at a park (whom we started talking to first), my parents found out and they weren't happy at all because I was 13 at the time and the guy was 18. He was actually a really cool guy but they didn't want me around him. The age difference is a bit odd to most people, but if you're not a perv and just wanting to be friends, I don't see anything wrong with it. Have you talked to her mom before? To let her know that you're not a creep, that you honsetly just like having her as a friend?

    It's normal. I think that's really nice actually. I have a lot of friends that are younger than me ranging from like a year-3 years younger than me. This past year I was a senior in high school but had a friend in every grade. Sometimes it's easy to be friends with someone younger than you. Best friends don't have to be your age and I am sure she is glad to have an older friend to talk to and look up to.

    Lol at people saying this isn't weird.. Of course this weird. I mean, it's weird based on society's standards. What some people do fail to realize is that some kids are really smart and mature for their age, especially some girls. In some countries girls are actually married when they turn 18. I'm not advocating this kind of behavior in any way but rather just stating true facts.

    As an 18 year old male, your hormones are going crazy and you're receiving instinctual messages from your brain telling you to reproduce, reproduce, reproduce. And believe it or not, this girl although 13 years of age could be in roughly the same stage as pubertal development as you are. Deny it all you want, but you know there is some sexual tension going on. It's subterraneous, but it is there. All I can say is.. be extremely careful my friend. If something does happen, her mom will be the first to take you to court and throw you in jail.

    Judging by your story, it sounds like it's fine, just other people will think it's weird. I've got friends who are 5 years older than me but I'm 19 so we're all grown up.

    When I was 13 me and some friends hung out with this 18 year-old but he was pretty dodgy really and gave us drugs.
