So I broke up with my girl friend we had been dating for like a year a month later my best friend asked her out and she said yes is it normal for me to want to kill him and rip his guts out and feed them to a bear?

You have to learn to live with it, but - I have to admit - I wouldn't like this, either. I'd especially hate that he was probably thinking of her while we were together. I know some guys enjoy this because they're with someone that someone else wants, but it doesn't float my boat.

It's just a respect thing between friends. That's what the waiting/asking is for. Like when guys ask dads before they propose.

It may be her choice to date who she wants, and his as well (your friend), but friends that actually care about your feelings would not do that to you. Friends that give a shit would know how it would affect you and would try to avoid dating your ex's. So I disagree with just about everyone who posted so far. I guess you people just don't care if what you are doing hurts a close friend.

Yeah, I don't understand the 'wait, ask permission' thing.
You broke up, she can date who she likes, she's no longer yours.
It's natural to detest your friend if you still like the girl-- in which case, why'd you break up. Your friend has not betrayed you, you broke off relationship, nothing binds you two now. Either talk to her about solving whatever problems since you still like her, or move on.

I think you should forgive him... I mean you two break up... So why can't the date?

Its normal for you to want to do that, yes. It's also normal for him to be dating her, although he should have talked to you about it and waited more than a month...
