Is it normal that my best friend doesn't tell me that he is gay?

I am a guy. I have known this friend of mine for more than 10 years already. We hang out almost every day and talk about everything. We know almost everything about each other.

The thing is that... He is gay, but he hasn't told me about it yet. He has already come out to many of his friends and even to his family! I don't know why he doesn't want to tell me. All my other friends know, and I just don't understand why he wouldn't tell me. I asked him directly a few days ago, and he denied it without shame. I even know the guy he is dating right now!

I am not homophobic or anything. In fact, I am quite accepting towards those things. I would just like to know a good reason for this behavior. So... is there any?

    You say you are 'quite' accepting, which is interesting.

    It's up to him who he tells really, isn't it?

    Perhaps he senses the gap between 'quite' and totally accepting of 'those things'.
