Is it normal that my best friend/crush wants to pretend we’re dating

This has been going on for about 6 months where my best friend/ crush (She has admitted to previously liking me) likes to pretend we’re dating. She’s been like “hey let’s prank this guy and pretend like we’re dating” or “man I think it would be really funny if I dressed up like a different person and pretended to be your girlfriend” (I’m a girl by the way.) The most recent occurrence was when she said “hey I’m going to that game, maybe we could go on a “date”” meaning it was not a real date... I’m just very very confused... what does this mean?

    She likes you. She believes or knows that you'll never actually be with her, and pretending to be together is the closest she'll ever get to actually being with you.

    If you're interested in being with her, for the love of god let her know. If you're not, let her know too. Pretending to be with her is torture for her in the long run because it's never going to be real.

    It might be satisfying for her now but it won't be for long.
