Is it normal that my auntie talks shit about everybody in the family?

I secretly hung out with a really close cousin my parents despised. We were hanging out in the kitchen and my auntie was there. We were sort of catching up. This auntie is in her mid 50s and NEVER brings her nor her family to family functions hence the reason why my parents dont like them. She just tells me she doesn't allow alcohol since majority of my relatives are heavy drinkers.
This auntie of mine straight out talked shit about my cousins, aunties, uncles. Bringing up personal topics and even said shit about my own mom. Not once did she say anything nice. BUT here's the thing, what she says has a high chance of being true. One time she said to me that I suffered a stroke when I was a baby and I didn't believe her, then my dad brought it up the next week without me asking saying that it did happen.
She even told me she thought I was her child because I was born after her miscarria

I have mixed feelings. Like even if it's true, I don't feel like a grown adss woman should be like that towards a relative she rarely sees.

    Everyone has someone in their family like that. The best thing to do is stay away and ignore that person. I always say that they like to talk bad about other people because they are unhappy with their own lives. Stay away from negative people. I am allergic to negative people! You can't change her.

      yah, and i can see why my parents dont want me around this auntie. They havent been in contact with her for like 3 years. It sucks b/c me and my cousin are super tight, but she is totally brainwashed hating the rest of my relative because of her mom.

    If your aunts the gossip queen then yeah, both my aunts are. Luckily enough, they dont say nothing about me. Because im my families pride, nah just messing, im my families shame, and i wish they would disown me for a better relative.

    Please speak up. Telling her that what she says about the family hurts and CAN she think of anything nice about anyone?
    I had a mother in law that I wish I spoke up to. She did what your aunt is doing. After awhile, I thought does she trash me too when I'm not around? She is dead now and sits next to satan. Speak up, before it eats at you like it has done me.

    How could she *think* you are HER child seeing that you would have had to come out of HER vajey for that to happen?

    Anyway, I think this is all too common in families for there to be one member who is just an attention seeking trash talker.

    Every family has the "crazy" aunt that they just tolerate, because she's a relative. Try to keep your distance and don't lat anything she says bother you, but also if she offends you, speak up.
