Is it normal that my 17 year old gf and i have a good relationship?

Ok, so I'm a 27 year old man, she's a 17 year old girl. Yeah I know the age difference is big, but she pursued me and eventually I couldn't say no. Anyway, we've been together for over a year now. I didn't think it would last for 2 months..?!

Is it normal, could I really be in love with a GIRL 10 years younger?

P.S. I'm not a pedophile and I've never had any urges to look at kids.

Also, the age of consent where I live is 16.

  • A pedophile is a person attracted to people under twelve years of age, not bouncy boobed teenagers.

Ten years? Hardly a moment in time. My girlfriend (25) and I are 41 years apart and very much in love. We are together 24/7 because we live and travel on a boat and neither of us works, other than on the boat, and our car is a Zodiac to get from the boat at anchor to shore. Most on here have only negative things to say about our relationship, but we are having a great life together and for some reason this is by far the easiest relationship I have ever had.
We have been together for a bit over two years and considering that we have only been apart for ten days (she flew home to visit mom)and a few hours, we figure it's more like seven years.
Good luck, enjoy each others company and fuck all the negative people.

I wouldn't advise the penetration of negative people.

It's plain perverted. You need to realise how sick having sex a child really is (she is not an adult until she is 18). You would buy 1 adult and 1 child ticket at he movies.....!!!! And you are nearly 30 so grow up you disgusting excuse for a human being. Leave her alone and let her enjoy her life with boys her own age and don't take her teenage years away from her.

My girlfriend and I are in a very similar situation, and are looking for other couples to talk with who are accepting of this type of a relationship. Message me if you guys are interested in talking.

When she is 27 you will be 37.
When she is 37 you will be 47.

Not such a big age difference now is it?

You can't help who you fall in love with, so just go with the flow.

You scream that she's a "GIRL", yet you're not a "pedophile". I'm getting two sides of a story.

Yes very normal. I'm 36 and attracted to a 23 year old girl.

Yeah, I guess it is. A bit unusual but if it's honestly a good relationship and you're both happy and able to understand eachother, then it's ok. 17 YOs will vary in their maturity levels. There will be some who wouldn't be able to sustain a sensible r'ship with someone in their mid-twenties, but obviously there are some who can and do.

    • She is a lot more mature than I'd expect from someone her age.

I remember being 17 and I was a bad apple.

She has her head on straight, that's why I think it's been working. My maturity level had to catch up to her even though I'm significantly older, lol.

I think it's rather wrong to exploit someone so young. If you had enough decency and morals you would have accepted the fact that the age gap is too big at this stage and you should have just let her go and be a teenager, since you are the older and meant to be wiser one. Do you think the age gap between a 14 year old and a 30 year old is wrong? Because that is pedophilia.

Sure, why not? It's a little weird and where I live 16 is the age of consent, but such an age difference is frowned upon. As long as you treat her with respect and understand that she's not finished maturing (which could cause problems) I don't see the problem. When I was 17 I was confident I could have a healthy relationship with my 34 year old teacher, but he was married at the time and I was busy maturing. But even my mom encouraged it and told me he seemed to be into me. He dedicated a very flattering speech to me when I graduated and slipped up and called me a woman instead of "young woman" in an auditorium full of parents... Ah... unrequited love. If I hadn't been knocked up right after he got a divorce something might might have happened. More than anything, though, I would have liked to have been friends with him.

On the internet it's considered shouting to talk in capital letters. If you said what you said to us but shouted the word girl, we'd forget what you were saying and would judge you for the way you were saying it. Surprised more lawyers don't use this technique.
