Is it normal that most women don't like muscular men?

I have heard that many women don't like muscular men. This goes against everything I have ever heard. When I say muscular I mean some veins, six pack, nice definition but not a huge monster with bursting muscles and veins. Do women really prefer a regular Joe type of guy because they are more soft and cuddly or something?

I like tall, semi-defined, thin, nice hair and face guys. Little picky, I know.

I have a fiance who meets this description and many other people meet this description.

Stop being an idiot, this is the second time your assumption makes you an ass.

How much should a thin man who is 6-1 weigh? Maybe I'm right up women's alleys.

I don't prefer "regular joe" types because they are more soft or cuddly. I just dislike the appearance of muscles. I can't explain why.

As an artist, I find the muscular body to be more beautiful, but speaking in sexual terms, I like guys who are a little closer to the average Joe, I guess. I like guys who are in shape and a little toned, but not too much. That's not to say that muscular body types are a turn off.

In all honesty, I find myself looking at the shape of a guys body more than how toned he is. That is the broadness of his shoulder, the size of his chest, etc. I tend to be less attracted to the tall, skinny types and more attracted to the shorter, avery weight types. I don't like guys who are fat and chubby.

I guess, what I'm saying is, I'm don't really care if a guy has muscles or not, I am more concerned about how he is shaped. Some guys are muscular but they are shaped odd, which is a turn off. Some guys are average Joes with a nice shape which is pretty damn hot. But muscles, by themselves, don't really turn me off or on.

How about a roider who has a large upper body with twigs for legs?

No; I'm being serious. I honestly find men to be more beautiful than women, and as an artist, I find a muscular body to be very majestic. When it comes to sex appeal, I'm looking more at the shape of the body, however, rather than how muscular he is.

Anyone starting a sentence with "as an artist" sounds so pretentious and is probably not even close to an artist in real life. Well, you have to define art for that but still.

Sounds like somebody needs attention for a slight skill they might possess. Saying, "as an artist" period sounds so douchy.

Let's be realistic, I wouldn't want a guy who was way more fit or lazier than I am. I really could care less if a guy had a six pack or is super muscular. Just the same as most people have already said, I prefer someone who is tall and average weight. Too skinny and too muscular is not my type. My main thing is the guy has to be a little bit fit, I'm not saying going out to the gym everyday cause I sure don't. So, average joe yes.

    I have a pretty wide array of preferences. Lean muscle and really skinny guys can be super attractive, but I'm okay with muscles up to a point. If a guy was a bodybuilder or something I'd probably be too intimidated by them honestly, I'm very small ^^;

Plus I really like when guys have a little bit of fluff... my ex had love handles and he felt so self conscious about it, but I thought it made him super cuddly and sexy ;P

I personally don't like all the muscles I find them gross and then if you don't keep up with them your skin will like sag but I love a guy that I can hug and not feel like I'm gonna break either he has to have some meat on his bones. I love most about my husband is he is very strong but I can cuddle with him and not feel like I'm laying with a rock, he makes me feel safe but comfy. Some women do like muscles tho to each his/her own.

There are different women and there are different men, to each his/her own, right? Even though, I'm not interested in female attention -bear with me: I have been a skinny/normal guy. And I have been pretty jacked (still am, although 20lbs less). I don't think there was any difference in the positive attention I'm getting both from guys and girls.

  • I think you have given in to the speech a lot of women state of "We don't care about looks", which is obviously not true.

Yes. Looking it from evolutionary perspective, too much muscle is very unnatural. Men should be able to perform athletic movements and have some kind of strength, to hunt for food or to fight with other human beings. So, you are talking about like those bodybuilders that's just too much. These bodybuilders can't perform athletic movements and are out of breath every 5 seconds, plus the risk of dying early from the steroids that they are taking. It is just not very smart, from evolutionary perspective for women to choose them.

Basically the guy that the majority of women like:
a tall guy with flat stomach (doesn't have to be a rock hard 6 packs), broad shoulders and a handsome face. A.K.A me

I find different men attractive for different reasons. I don't have a body type that I like any more than another, but I do agree.. I'm not too keen on muscles. Of course, some men I'm attracted to are lean, and the muscles are easily seen, but other men I'm attracted to have nice little bellies, and thick thighs that I want to bite into, and cute little bums so idk.. It really depends on the person for me, first I have to find them intellectually stimulating, and after that it doesn't matter what their body looks like, I'll be attracted because I'm attracted to them as a person.

My boyfriend is skinnier than I am, and I love his body, so it's really all a matter of who the person is.

Actually, it is very normal! And proven by SCIENCE! As the research below found, most women prefer men who are fit, but not incredibly muscular. One reason for this is that when looking for a long-term relationship, a lot of women think really beefy guys would be unfaithful.

I like heavy guys who are strong and have muscles, but the muscles are visible or defined because they are covered in fat.

I hate the scrawny-muscular type with definition but no volume. A six pack on a guy who weighs 120lb is a turn off. I sort of like the beefy-muscular guys, but nothing too outrageous.

When it comes down to it, I prefer the typical guy with a regular build and average muscles. The kind that isn't body conscious and doesn't need to hit the gym every night to feel good about themselves. The kind of guy that will sit on the couch with you watching movies and eat a whole bowl of popcorn just because you can. Why care how much you weigh if you can't indulge in the things you love?

I'd prefur your average joe than a muscular guy but thats just me. I'm more attracted to them just like some women are more attracted to muscular and some are attracted to fat guys. Just depends on who you are

Whoever said that is lying to himself. Most women would choose the 'after', not the 'before'.
