Is it normal that most all teenagers are little jerks?

Not normal to me. Of all the teenagers I've met most were fairly nice and reasonable.

But if you treat them as jerks they'll be jerks to you.

I walked by a highschool the other day and stared the shit out of a bunch of them. Made me feel like a big man.

I agree and I, like Sick am also a teenager. I was talking with my boyfriend the other day when a couple of kids who couldn't have been older then 9 started saying abusive words to us that I didn't even know until I was about 14! We were shocked! What is with this generation? All of us teenagers are trying to be 'cool' but really your just being a bunch of pricks. ¬.¬

Yea, im only 17 but since i was bout 16 i been realising all the cocky pussys that act like their so cool and they are the shit but they REALLY AINT SHIt without their parents.
yea i still live at home but you know how much money i get from my parents 20$ a week on a good week 30$. All these motherfuckin kids always have a shitload of money and i wonder where they get it

I think it's coz it's so much easier for parents to give the kids 'things' than to spend time with them. Some of the gadgets are substitute baby-sitters but don't generate memories for the kids. The parents later moan that they don't understand their kids or know what they're up to. It's their own fault!
I have always worked with reverse psychology on my teenager so he came home from school one day to find a new poster on his wall.
"Tired of your annoying parents? Why not move out while you still know it all?"

I also told him the police remove him from the house when he is the legal age to leave ;o) Whereas the reality is, I love him to bits and want him to stay with us forever. He's a good soul who has impeccable manners, and gets As at school. (I tell him Bs = Beatings, Cs = Cancelled Computer).

Actually, when I became a teen was when I started growing up. But I'm a girl, and girls mature faster than boys. I agree with part of what you said, parents usually have some impact on how their kids turn out.

I agree completely and I myself am a teenager. The problem lies within the parents, as you said. I've been noticing that a lot of adults,now parents, grew up in a harsh time when the economy was in a turmoil. They worked hard and achieved their dreams because of the hardships they faced. Most kids don't have the same hardships their parents faced, instead they have Ipods and luxuries. Maybe their parents are trying to give their kids what they never had, it's just that they didn't expect their kids to become spoiled teenagers who don't appreciate how hard their parents have worked. If kids maybe got a glimpse of what their parents had to go through, then maybe they wouldn't be as bad or materialistic.

In my experience if you are fair with teenagers then they will be fair with you. I have always believed that to get respect you have to give it. I also have to remind that you yourself where a teenager yourself one day. While I do agree there are some bad teenagers who have no morals at all. However the majority are just learning about who they are and having fun. Hands up who hasn't played loud booming music as a teenager, because I have. Also if you accuse someone of being as you put "A jerk" then they will live up to it. xx

Some of the older teens around 16-19 aren't as bad as the 13-15 year olds though
They just keep getting worse and worse with each generation and the parents wanting to be their kids friend before being the parent doesn't help

It can depend on the school they go to also

yes but i only notice it bcuz i myself was an entitled snotty little brat for many years. I was in my early 20's b4 i even realized that my mother was a real person! now when i read all these posts on iin about "oh, i hate my parents bcuz they wont let me stay out as late as all my friends, or they wont let me have a boyfriend, or they wont wipe my ass for me" it grates on my nerves to no end. I am a parent now and see how much work it is. I cant believe i ever treated my mother the way i did. i guess its a normal developmental stage but i just want to shake these little fuckers and yell "wake the fuck up!".

I am 17 now and when I think back to my teenage-time I'm like omg I was a completely different person. Teenagers today are under a lot of pressure and all that shit ok thats maybe 50% and the other 50% are the parents... Today, parents don't know anymore how to educate / prepare their children for life and spoil them!
