Is it normal that it seems like she only wants to have sex?

So a good friend of mine met a girl he's really, really into (almost heavily in love). Hearing his stories I could understand why: she kind of seems perfect for him and I think it would be awesome if the two of them got together.
The only thing is that I'm starting to get the feeling this girl only wants to have sex with him. The two of them only met like 5 times, but she mostly ignores all messages he sends her and won't talk to him herself, sometimes for a week or two. They dated mostly at night. One time she came over in the afternoon but they started to have sex almost right away and after that she wanted to leave and went home. Now she's cancelling a day-date, saying she doesn't have the time but she wants to see him at night.
She's told him earlier she's very shy and finds it hard to hang out with people one on one, but since every appointment evolves around sex, to me that doesn't sound like an explanation for her behavior.

    mine is a sadist and freely admits studying brutal pychological torture methods to shatter a male's ego. while i'm curled up in a ball with tears streaming down my face is the only time i've seen her genuinely happy.

    The answer is obvious, but because she's female, you guys are getting confused.

    Think of it as if she were a guy and your friend was a woman. If a guy only likes to see a girl at a certain time, always have sex and nothing else, have one hundred and one excuses for not seeing each other at any other time, and ignores all her text/calls, then as a man, what would you think? Short answer, of course she's using him for sex, she's a player. However, just like how women get in this situation with male players, your friend is too infatuated with her to see her bullshit.

    In the end, just leave it alone. Your friend likes her too much to understand he's being used, so no matter how clearly the signs are, he wont notice until he sees it for himself or until she breaks his heart and moves on to the next guy. All you can do is support him. Women aren't evil, it's just women and men aren't as different as people like to think; and your friend is making bad choices with the girls he meets.

      I myself am female, so this is exactly what I thought. The thing is that me and some friends sometimes acted like this (when we were 17/18) because we seriously wére just way too shy/awkward/whataver, so that made it a little difficult for me to judge.

      But you know what? I pushed him to talk with her: it's done, they talked, and yes, she just wanted the sex.

      Thanks for your reply! I sometimes feel bad for all the guys who think girls aren't like that because they'd do everything with a strong feeling or reason.

    The way it sounds is she only wants sex. But it may not be so bad for him, I mean after all, he does have a dick, and although he may want something more or not, if he doesn't like it he is a big boy and can decide for himself if he wants to move on or not. But to me she is just using him for sex.

    She sounds like a one of those girls. Sex is good and all but if that is all a woman has to offer then that is pretty superficial and would get old really fast. She could be just using the guy as a form of an ego booster. She may also secretly have many other sex buddies on the side too. Tell your friend to ask Bob Dole what his opinion on this matter is.

    Sounds like the perfect live out girlfriend. Only somebody should tell her than the occasional afternoon delight is OK, too.
