My boss never speaks to me, not even just to say hi. He doesn't even engage in eye contact or smile. It makes me really uncomfortable to ask him for anything even though I know I do a good job. It's really bothering me.
Don't worry to much about it. It's not that uncommon. As long as your doen your job to the best of your ability, that's all that counts to your boss.
This is important: Your boss didn't hire you so that you could be buddies, he hired you to do a job that he is too busy to do himself.
I know that sounds harsh, I'm sorry. But I only put it out there to hopefully prevent you from being upset any further.
Oh, and NEVER tell your coworkers too much personal information (ie. don't get friendly with the competition). You may find one or two truly good friends through your job (it can happen), but you'll have to weed through dozens of people who will be sweet to your face and stab you in the back the first chance they get when they feel their source of income could be threatened.
Consider your paycheque all the validation you will need from your boss.
Bosses generally admire those most like themselves: Hard, determined and resourceful.
Try be less clingy and more productive and see if he likes you more. the strong man respects strength and bosses like those who most closely resemble themselves.
I don't have any advice because I am not experienced with this stuff but that would sorta suck. I wish you luck.
That blows but at least he is not hitting on you! I got fired cause I rejected my bosses advances a million times.
