Yeah that can happen. It seems to me like you have some issues with anxiety. You gotta learn how to relax and just live your life! Why live in constant fear?

Avoid nicotine, caffeine, cocaine, alcohol abuse (enlarges the heart), saturated fat, take regular exercise, and stop worrying.

Good advice, plus go to the doctor just to be sure.

An easy way to check if it's anxiety is to do some deep breathing: if the symptoms recede it's not a heart attack, because that's not controllable by breathing.

I've had a heart attack and didn't notice any change in my heart beat: my main symptom was a crushing type of chest pain radiating up into my neck and jaw and extreme tiredness.

The ambo's said my blood pressure was so high I should've been in hospital anyway even if I wasn't having a heart attack.

I reckon you're having anxiety attacks, but it wouldn't hurt to have your heart checked to rule that out

Anxiety attack....sucks but you just have to talk your way out of it and get some fresh air, or Xanax.

  • Either you're just hypochondriac, or you really have something. Go check with a doctor.

In any case I won't repeat what dappled said up there ^. He's right.

You would feel other side-effects before feeling the heartbeat pulpitating into a heart attack (e.g, pains in one arm or one leg, dizziness and headaches). To make you stop thinking about it, visit your doctor and get your health and heart checked. If you want more precautions, a change of diet and lifestyle could be beneficial.

Not necessarily, it's possible to have a heart attack with no warning at all, eg when you're asleep.

You didn't mention chest pains which radiate up into the jaw, which is a common heart attack symptom and as far as I know dizziness and headache aren't precursor symptoms for a heart attack.

  • I have this exact fear. But I keep having irregular heartbeats and I have long QT interval. I'm 28 and I'm terrified that I'm going to die from a heart attack any second. Especially since the symptoms of long QT are fainting or sudden death :( I want to do so many things in my life I don't want to die now.
