Is it normal that im not sure about pursuing medicine

Since being a little kid its always seemed like i was going to grow up to be a doctor. There was a slight pressure to become one from my family, since my dads a dentist. But im having my doubts. Ive accepted that being a doctor would be cool, and satisfying, and would get me a lot of money, but it seems like maybe its not for me. Im not sure but I sense theres more to life, and other ways to be happy with my life

Medicine is a great profession. It can be most rewarding if you love it. But its also very demanding and takes a great deal of commitment. Do not go to medicine if you don't want to, just because your family pressures you. Its YOUR life and you are the one who is going to pay the price if you make the wrong choice. On the other hand do not discard it just to revolt, same reason. Try to get all the information you need before you decide.

As someone who thought about medicine for a long time, I think it's something you have to really want to do to get into medical school. You have to get at least all A's basically at GCSE, then A's for A level too. I personally changed my mind this year as I discovered that it is too much stress, but you may be better at dealing with stress than I. It's up to you, but you should have a long think about all the things you would love to do that are easier, and don't let your parents decide for you; it's your life.

The training itself is a big commitment. 10% of your three score years and ten. So it's not something you should really start if you have doubts. Plus you can always come back to it later on. It sounds like you need to go out and get some experience of other things to find out what you really want.
