Is it normal that im nervous to skype my crush?

I have been in love with this guy and he's in his third year of college and Im in my first. He goes to college really far away from me and dorms and I commute. He lives in the same town as me though. Anywaysss we've been texting since the beginning of summer. We both work at the same place and we flirted and then work ended so I started texting him and it transformed from a once a week thing, to an every other day thing, to an every day thing and then back to an every other day thing(which is now) I think that he is absolutely AMAZING :) But heres the problem. My mom is a very strict mom and doesn't give me privacy so I feel weird talking on the phone with him because she will listen in and tell me to get off the phone, so all I do is text him. (Oh and another thing, she doesn't approve of him) So I just started college and I was thinking that Im older now and I could do what i WANT (but only when I'm home alone haha) But now that i have the freedom to Skype (when I'm home alone) I'm nervous to do it. I feel like we haven't talked face to face in a long time and Im afraid I'll say something wrong and he won't find me attractive anymore. (Another thing is..he hypothetically asked me on a date; he said when we both are free and home we'll go.) And if I don't Skype him soon.. he'll give up I just know it. </3 :(
