Is it normal that im always concerned about what my crush thinks?

Well, recently i've become very good friends with this boy. Both of us like each others company and we spend lots of time together. One day I asked him "If you had to date anyone in our grade who would it be?" He replied the name of a sweet girl. But she was way taller and bigger than him- not that it matters. But then I asked him "whats your second choice?" And he said me.... I am also fat and chubby... will that matter to him? Anyone i'm always paranoid when he jokes around with other girls even though he's just one of those guys who likes to make people laugh, especially me. He also gives me multiple compliments like "You are really good at singing" and singing is basically my life... Do you think he likes me back? And is it normal I'm paranoid about his opinions about me?
