Is it normal that im almost 20 and have a 12midnight curfew

I have to be home at midnight every night I go out. I'm not, by any means, allowed to spend the night with my boyfriend. We don't make plans for out of state or out of town because I have to be home the same night. I'm expected to text my mom every time I change locations when I'm out. For example.. "I'm at Michael's house." "At taco bell" "at Walmart" "back at Michael's"..

By the way, moving out is not at all easy in this economy. I just want to know if this is normal. I've never seen any other girl with these particular restrictions. My parents argue that they are giving me tons of freedom and that this is normal for all girls my age.

I think they have the leash a little too tight. Or do they have reasons not to trust you? You do live in their house so you should respect their rules, but me, i'd rebel. Rebel!!!!!!!!!

They are too strict. Not surprised they are doing this to you because you are a girl. Your parents are old fashioned.

Stop bring an asshole, OP, redneckgirl has given obvious and sound advice. LIFE isn't easy, for fucks sake. Stop being such a brat. If you live with them, you follow their rules. If its "not easy" for you to do the things you need to do to improve the situation, then that's too goddamn bad, isn't it. Try harder. Put your big girl panties on and change it, even if its hard. Otherwise shut the fuck up and be thankful you have a roof over your head and a mom who actually gives a shit where you are.

Jesus fuck, you self absorbed, entitled, whiney fucking douchbag kids kill me.

Wtf. I'm not even complaining. I'm just curious about whether or not my situation is normal. Chill the fuck out.

No, it's fucking ridiculous but since you still live with them I guess they feel that it's their house and their rules. Which to some extent is true. Have you ever seen the film Black Swan? Nina's mom is ridiculously controlling of her life too. The pressure from her mom and the ballet company's production of Swan Lake causes her to "snap" and at the end it is implied that she accidentally killed herself. It's very good. Can you move in with another relative, friend or your boyfriend?

Lol.. It's annoying but they have a reason for it.. They love you.. And when you have kids your gonna find yourself doing the same thing.. But you should talk to them

If your still living with your parents, then you have to live by their rules. But if your a legal adult then find yourself a place to live and then you can live by your own rules. This a situation that you should have enough common sense to answer for yourself.

None of you seem to realize what my actual question is. I'm not even asking for advice or ways to get out of my situation. Its a yes or no question. Damn.

Live on the streets then you have no curfew.

Before anyone gets all boo and hiss.

I'm telling the op to look at the alternative that is all.

Try to negotiate with them to reassure them that you are OK and a big girl now (assuming you've not given them reason to be concerned). But it is their home and their rules. That's just the way it is for now and while frustrating, try to not let it become too big a deal.

This really pisses me off. Try your best to get a job and save up enough money to rent an apartment then tell them to go fuck themselves.

Then try pushing your limits with your parents. You are an adult and should be treated like one.

JESUS. If you DON'T want advice, WHY ARE YOU HERE?

            I agree with RedneckGirl.

I'm not even asking for advice. Just a simple question. Is it normal.
