I'm 17 and never had a girl.Most of my friends had a girl.I'm like the only one that never had a girl.I don't think i'm ugly because last year this girl that i know came up to me and said that she likes me.But i didn't like her back because she was kind of fat.My friends tell me that i'm to shy when i try to talk to girls.I don't think i'm shy because i actually try to talk to girls.But maybe i am shy when i talk to girls because when i talk to them i feel like i'm going to do something stupid or say something stupid.Sometimes when i go try to talk to a girl that i like i can't think of nothing to say to her because i get scared of saying something stupid and make her think that i'm annoying or retarded or maybe something that is not good.I just want to know why i never had a girl. is it because i'm ugly,shy,or other.

Anonymous wants to know if it is normal that he is 17 and never had a girlfriend. Well good sir, it is! 17 is quite young and although many people seem to want a girlfriend or boyfriend, I can guarantee that a lot of people around then just want one for the sake of wanting one. Its possible someone could genuinely like someone though and if so, thats great! However, people also like to see how well they can work their man meat too soon and increase the population way too early. You want the girl you like to be worthwhile, not the 87th copy from the copy machine! If you were 49 and posted this, then I'd be worried.

In any case, don't worry about it! It is much less of a chance that you are ugly or shy and more of that it simply hasn't happened yet. If there is someone you like, don't worry about saying something stupid and go for it! You don't want to look back and say "I wish I did this", you want to go "I can't believe I did that, I'm a lucky guy", right? To recap, don't feel rushed for the sake of having a girl and if you like one, reel her in! Nothing is wrong with you, good sir. Thats all the time we have for today folks, goodnight everybody!

Honestly, plenty of people have been in your shoes. I'm 18 and never even had a girl like me, so consider yourself lucky. I can't tell you why you haven't had a girlfriend yet, and I don't know too much about your personality to even consider that an option, but you should just chill.

A girl liked you, that at least shows that you could've had a girlfriend. If you're wondering why a hot girl doesn't like you, will then I can't say, but I will say this. Don't worry about screwing up, that only makes you seem less confident. If you see a girl you think is attractive, then ask her out. If she says no, move on, but at least you got somewhere. Basically, if you see something you want try to go after it, but don't sit on the sidelines wondering why you're alone and everyone else isn't. Take a chance.

  It's perfectly reasonable not to like a girl because she is fat. There are plenty of guys that do like bigger girls and just because this guy isn't one of them doesn't mean he's shallow. Attraction is a big part of a relationship and it's something that can't be forced. If he wasn't attracted to her he wasn't attracted to her, end of story. You wouldn't be saying this if he said she was too skinny for his tastes instead. I think it's time to join the real world.

    Excuse me, but even though I'm not the person you were replying to, I was appalled to read that he didn't like her because she was fat and if it had been because she was skinny, I'd be just as appalled. If it had been because her breasts were too big or something, I'd be just as appalled. I think physical attraction is important in a relationship, but it's the least important factor of all.

      He didn't like her because he wasn't attracted to her. Whether it's because she was fat or not doesn't make a difference. Who cares if you were "appalled". It's not your place to make judgements like that.

My younger brother is 17 too. Never had a girlfriend. I feel like a lot of the time students can get quite wrapped up in their own lives whether its school, work, friends. I know my brother is too focused on sports school and friends to have time for a girlfriend. I suppose that shyness can be a factor but theres girls out there who like shy guys.

This is totally normal. Some people don't start dating until a later age, and just because all your friends have had girls, doesn't mean you NEED to or that you aren't a good guy. My boyfriend was 20 when he started dating me and I was and I still am his first girlfriend. He lost his virginity to me also, so he didn't even have sex until he was 20! It's alright, and sooner or later the right girl will come along :D
