Is it normal that im 19 and i hav an imaginary friend.??

I'm 19 going on 20 in a couple of months and I have an imaginary friend,I talk to myself, and I pretend the people on tv are talking to me because I feel so alone. I live in a house with 6 of my family members but no one wants anything to do with me. I try to make friends but everyone calls me strange, odd, and weird. And things alot worse than that. I spend everyday alone and cry at nite. It's got to the point where I started to talk to myself and the tv. I'm really embarrassed to admit that I have an imaginary friend at the age of 19. I've been single for the last two years but I've always been shy around new people esp.girls. So is talking to myself and having an imaginary friend normal at age 19???

  • What's so bad about having an imaginary friend? Its fun to talk with imaginary friends and share secrets with them, I pretend I have 2 before I go to sleep, and I talk to them so, it's normal!

Aww, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm strange, odd and weird too but I channel it in a good way around other people.

There's nothing intrinsically wrong with you; you just need to work out how to be yourself around others. Don't expect it to happen overnight, though.

I'm 18 and I have so many imaginary friends, I can't even count how many now. They each have a past and they usually get along with each other, but sometimes they don't.
People usually call me odd or weird, but I don't let it get to me. I say be who you want to be and screw the rest!
So yes, you do seem normal to me, but don't be afraid to get out there sometime and make some friends too and trust me, there are people out there that will find you to be amazing and will stick with you 'til the end of time. (Sorry for my cheesiness)

Alcohol is the solution to shyness get smashed then go speak to a girl when your so drunk you dont care what you come across as.

Aim for someone atleast 3 ugliness stages beneath you then buy her a drink and she will ride you like sea biscuit my friend

Sometimes I have more decent conversations with myself than I could possibly have with people I know.
I feel sorry for you since you remind me a bit of myself.

well you have an imaginary friend because of your desire to socialize with atleast one individual. But what exactly do you do that makes people think you are weird?

Drive to the next town one nite, go n hang out in a bar/club etc. This will make you feel rite outside of your comfort zone, you can use this to your advantage safe in the knowledge know one there knows you, harness your 'out of place' anxiety and use as an 'edge' or attitude.

Just imagine you were acting and taking on a different personality. I'm not saying pretend to be someone else, or talk shit to people but use the 'edge' as a way to radiate confidence and coolness (even if you don't actually believe you are cool) girls & possible new friends will be attracted to your slightly rogue attitude you will make a new bunch of friends in know time. And the best thing is as you slowly start to reveal your mire truer self it will only increase your cool by showing you are not just 2 dimensional...

    Hope this helps

I think it's a bit odd but it could be a suppressed side of you, OR a form of dealing with loneliness/abandoness, OR just someone you miss because they left you or died. Otherwise I don't rightly know.
