Is it normal that i would rather be a housewife...

and take care of babies and clean house instead of having a career of my own? Im not lazy, i'm also very much so capable of getting a job. My husband doesn't want me to work, and to be quite honest I don't either. I'd rather take care of our homelife and make sure we have a healthy and happy home. Is this selfish?

no way. Do what you want. If people have a problem- don't let them effect you!

It would be more selfish to want a career.

I am the same. When i was with my partner he went to work and I was the housewife and looked after the 3 kids. He left but I still bring the kids up on my own as he doesn't really want much to do with them. Some point soon I will have to get a job but I only hope I can fit it in around them as I dont want them to all end up at a childminders :0(

I don't think it's selfish at all, infact it's a lovely trait! I'm the opposite, I couldn't imagine staying at home and I'm kinda dreading it happening in a way, but some people were born to be mothers, it's a good thing =D

And I don't think it's lazy, I think looking after children is one of the hardest jobs in the world...which is probably why I'm avoiding the whole situation lol

    Go for it!

I love the housewife lifestyle (I'm never ever having children though). I am however driven to hold an executive career someday, or my own business... I'll have to blend the two.
I'd like to think I'll get a good enough job that I can be one of those that work a few days, take the rest of the week off and clean and bake all day. :)

Ok first things first...being a housewife doesn't make you lazy. Secondly, it doesn't make you selfish, quite the opposite in my opinion.

It's hard work being at home and doing housework, meals etc as well as take care of children.

I'm at home with my 2 year old because I chose to and my husband wanted me to.

I have a little baking business I do from home home, so that gives me something else to do.

Sometimes I wish I worked because the house looks like a toy bomb has gone off, or my daughter wont listen to me or take a nap, but at the end of the day, I want to raise my own children, not someone with a childcare certificate.

It's your decision. I don't know if you have kids yet but if/when you do, make sure you have friends (with kids) or family around, or join a mums or play group so you don't go insane. It can be very lonely and isolating, but VERY rewarding in the end.

    Good luck!
