Is it normal that i worry about future wars?

i sometimes worry about world war 3 and such, i worry about being drafted and killed. I dont know why, the other day i was researching drafting and the possibilities of nuclear wars and i could not sleep that night. i sometimes have a feeling it will happen soon, can anyone relate to this?

I'm in the Marine Corps, I've been in combat multiple times. And I'm about to go on another deployment. As you can see, I'm not dead.

Mutually assured destruction almost guarantees that nuclear weapons will never be used under current technological circumstances. If one nation fires, the opposition will pick up the flashes via satellite, and fire back. In that situation, everybody dies. Anyone with half a brain, will not let this happen.

Conscription is still a viable possibilty. But given the advancement of modern technology, any future war would likely be wars of attrition. It's likely that only a percentage of soldiers will actually give their lives.

The bad news: Wars happen, and will continue to happen long after you and I have departed this planet.

The good news: World War III is exceedingly unlikely given the explosive power of the deterrants. I'm not saying nuclear weapons won't ever be used in warfare; I believe they will. But they won't be used on any particular scale. Neighbouring countries may perhaps throw one or two at each other but world condemnation will stop things escalating.

In terms of conscription or drafting, wars are increasingly fought with technology. We no longer need the horrific reality of the Great War when men were both the weapons and the target. No global war will ever be fought like that again.

You have far more to worry about what your own government is doing to you by stealth and the slow erosion of your freedom.

Mandatory Service will happen sooner or later. Hopefully sooner.

Just don't think about it. Because it's not something you can stop if it happens. Course if it does and they draft me, I will just kill myself. I'm not fighting for this country.
