Is it normal that i worry about being lonely?

I'm only 17 and still in school. Sometimes I worry about the future because I've never even had a boyfriend. Is it normal to fear being alone at such a young age?

I do that too, and it's because of an anxiety disorder. Get screened for anxiety trust me you're gonna feel like a weight was lifted off your shoulders without all the worrying.

Although it is "normal" in my book for people to fear being alone, it, like any other fear, can make you neurotic and actually "create" a situation in which you are trying to defend (what you resist persists).

A meaningful relationship is the result of two healthy people coming together for love, not loneliness prevention.

Simply, you've got to aspire to overcome this fear (try doing certain things alone--taking a long walk, catching a movie, even eating in a restaurant (some place like a coffee shop where being alone is not unusual). Just some pointers to learn to simply be at one with yourself.

And I understand the broader level of your conerns, though. I was raised around old folks....scores of them that are all deceased now. They were all I ever knew as a child. Now that they are gone and i'm approaching forty, i often wonder (I have no children) who will tend to me whenever I get old (IF I ever get old!).

    I agree with thisissomuchfun.
U will meet someone, then someone else then probably someone else after that till u find that special someone. U won't always be alone but u will probably wish at some stages that u were. Being single is fun too

  • Don't worry about it; but I think you're normal for feeling that way. Wait until college - there's more of a chance you'll meet someone with similar interests there. Later, you can meet people through social functions, work, and your own hobbies you that you will develop.

I want to beleive that its normal! Im 15 and have the same problem as you! Its something thats been on my mind for a while now! One reason we feel the way we do could be threw our peers! As we look around we see couples together but for some reason not us? So it leads to thoughts about the future. Hit me up if you think of any other reason:)

WHEN I WAS YOUR AGE I DIDN'T THINK OF BOYFRIENDS..I JUST WANTED TO PLAY WITH DOLLS , RIDE MY BIKE, AND PAINT BARBIE'S HAIR WITH MY MUM'S NAILPOLISH...I WAS VERY NAIVE AS A CHILD AND I THINK YOU SHOULD DO THE SAME...ENJOY YOUR ADOLESCENCE AND DON'T BE IN HURRY. ONE DAY YOU 'LL FIND YOUR MAN
