That get's me too. When you have--or adopt--a baby you don't really know what you are getting. Some personality types simply don't get along. If people think they are safe having their own that is not necessarily true--it could have the same inborn basic personality of a relative of yours--or your partners--that you simply cannot get along with. Then both you and the child are stuck : ( Not a good situation for you or for the child. It doesn't necessarily mean that there is something wrong with you or wrong with the child. It is just that some people "click" and other's don't.

But with an older child you can choose one who's personality is compatible with yours. If I were to adopt I would want an older one for that reason.

Here is something for people who want to have their own child or who only want to adopt a baby or toddler to try that might change their minds--volunteer at an orphanage where there is a wide assortment of available children over toddler age. Do not let the children know you are thinking about or possibly considering the option of adoption because if you don't choose them they will be heartbroken and they have already suffered enough heartbreak and hurtful rejection for ten lifetimes. Just let them think you are volunteering and are there for all the kids as a group. Get to know the kids. Not only will you be doing a wonderful thing by being able to give those children much needed attention but chances are one or more of those older kids may very well "click" with you and totally capture your heart--and you theirs.

You have nothing to lose by doing so--and you might very well end up with the perfect child of your dreams and the difference you could make in the life of that child is immeasurable : )

Maybe the government shouldn't make it so hard. Or stop removing kids from perfectly good homes just because they don't agree with the parents' lifestyle.

You are looking at the problem completely wrong. Don't punish the good people who waited for marriage to have sex, so that they can have a child that resembles them, and pass down their genes.

Punish the god damn fucking sluts aborting babies left and right and leaving the rest on doorsteps and in dumpsters.

I would if the proccess wasn't too long and if singles would be able to adopt. I would adopt up to 3 children at once. No neccesarly an infant or toddler. I might go for a tween. Would not like to adopt a teen right away though.

The whole adoption process is very hard and takes a long time. That should change.

I skimmed through your post but I would have to agree that people should adopt more - though I can definitely understand why people prefer the usual mating option.

When you grow up you'll understand why people would much rather have their own flesh and blood than to adopt. You're still too young to understand because it has much to do with the complexity of feelings.
