Is it normal that i wish i was a different person?

I consider myself to be a walking mistake. I have more flaws than a normal person has. I am always saying something stupid, procrastinating and forgetting things. I am 19 and I feel like I am as intelligent and mature as a fourth grader!!! I don't know what is wrong with me. Sometimes I just wish I could be ANYBODY else other than myself.

    So, you don't fit.

It doesn't make you at all abnormal, just different.

And, flaws aren't actually flaws by the way. They're merely differences.

At 19, you're all mixed up with allsorts of stuff and, I assure you, so are all the rest of the 19 year olds around you. Nomatter how popular they seem or how much better they seem to fit than you do.

Shrug it off for now. Your life at 19 hasn't yet begun and your apparent sensitivity is a very good thing.

Sometimes I feel like that, like I want to be someone else.

dude, this is totally normal. i can really relate to this-
in the beginning of my middle school years, i had really low self esteem. i was like, a follower, i guess. i would obsess over my jealousy of the popular girls, when in reality, they weren't much prettier or special than i was. it really was upsetting to me, so i got this idea in my head that i wasnt good enough or cool enough, and that nobody liked me. i was just nice to others and was myself. now i have loads of good friends and stuff.
the lesson here: dont beat yourself up. you are special, and you need to remind yourself of that.
i suppose you could talk to someone you trust, or get a therapist? it actually can help:)

ITs ok too feel this way. It is normal. Everyone, even the best people in the world wish they could change something or be something different. But you got to learn to accept yourself! Flaws are just things to tell you different than that other person. Flaws are things you should accept and try to make better, not to hate all together! I am sure you are not as bad as you think you are. And trust me we are all human beings, don't demean yourself so bad :)

Your feelings are quite normal, in my experience; in fact, I can very much relate.

Keep in mind that at the end of the day, all you have is yourself--and you are all that really matters. Consider developing interest in spirituality, especially New Age, which focuses on accepting oneself and one's place within the world, or Eastern philosophies, which focus on "letting go" of everything altogether to achieve a wholesome peace-of-mind. Realize that you don't have to change your religion altogether even if you choose to change how you practice it :)

Anyways, like PiAnt said, flaws are simply differences. The criteria of immature or "stupid" behavior is subjective to the individual; what is "dumb" or "weird" to one person is charming or normal (even boring, lol) to the next.

You simply need the opportunity to grow and flourish within yourself in order to feel happy being you!
