Yeah, I love smosh! I don't like how Alloy Digital (the company they are signed to) has made them do things such as Smosh Games, Shut Up! Cartoons, all of that, but yes, as people, they are good guys, and some of their videos are quite funny.
Sometimes I forget that when people talk about 'smosh', they aren't talking about Ian and Anthony as people, they're talking about the whole 'business'. Keep in mind that asking for the money to make their upcoming game, the merchandise, the channels, it's all controlled by Alloy Digital.
Some would argue that they need to have some sort of management, and Alloy Digital is the best one out there for the biggest stars of YouTube, but then again, the channel PewDiePie, a guy who just plays video games, is very nearly overtaking smosh, and he does it all by himself. So I dunno. But they're cool guys, even though the whole 'smosh' thing might not be.
I think they're the most popular channel on YouTube, so I think it's safe to say that you're normal.
I rarely like any popular YouTubers. They end up appealing to the lowest common denominator (I hate that phrase, and I hope it doesn't sound too elitist).
I don't think I'd derive any entertainment whatsoever from watching people read their own fan mail. How self-absorbed is that? Doing it in private is one thing but making people watch you while you show them how popular you are? It's almost sick.
I think it's pretty ridiculous you even had to ask that question, and that so many people said it wasn't normal. Of course it's okay to like Smosh; they're popular for a reason. Everyone has their own tastes and if you genuinely like Smosh, then good for you! People can enjoy whatever kind of entertainment they want. Plus, with MILLIONS of subscribers, I don't see how it would be anything BUT normal.
Aren't they the guys that pretty much conned their fans in to giving them loads of money, despite not needing it?
I think it's kind of ridiculous that someone can make enough money to live on by just playing video games and posting the video on youtube. I suspect that one day this entire ad-based economy, with billions of dollars exchanging hands while no tangible product is being created, will crush under it's own weight.
But maybe that's a little off-topic.
