Is it normal that i was fired for this?

Well, got a new job. I was told I start at 7. First day there, I get there at 7 and everything goes good. Second day there, I was told I need to be in at 6:45 in the morning after coming to work at 7:00 and the day still went good.

Day three, my alarm was disabled causing me to wake up in a fury of panic. I new I was gonna be late, because I did not wake up to my alarm. I still managed to get there at 7:00 and I was fired on the spot.

I know it's my fault and all. I should've made sure I had two alarms or something haha, I just can't stop thinking about this. I really liked it there, I was trying my best at that place and I just can't believe this happened.

Is it normal that I was fired for this?

Getting to work at the exact time your shift starts is kinda silly. Note for future: arrive early.

Your boss wanted someone he/she could depend on and if you didn't take measures to make sure you were on time the third day of work, he/she decided you weren't dependable. Even the worst employees will usually make an effort to get to work on time during the first week on the job. Let this be a lesson to you and don't wait until you get another job to purchase those "two alarm clocks" or whatever it takes for you to get up in the morning.

I think they were being rough on you but it was probably in the name of running a tight ship. I hope you have better luck going forward though :P

When I was captain of sailing schooners, anyone even 10 seconds late would be fired on the spot.
There was no excuse for being late that was satisfactory. None!
Why be such a hard ass, you ask?
There were 50 paying passengers waiting to leave who didn't give a crap about any excuse, and I had to take shit from them for something I didn't do or have any control over.
At hiring this was made quite clear to every crew member and besides, a crew member was supposed to be aboard at least a half hour early to help their crew mates prepare the boat for the trip, not fair to them.
If you are so stupid you show up late on your third day, then you are showing your employer how little you value the job and your disdain for the employer.
    Stop bitching and GROW UP.

This is illegal. They are suppose to give you at least a week notice if they are going to fire you. They can not legally just fire you on the spot. There is a type of procedure they must follow. There is a thing called Due process. Also if you were there on time they really had no right to fire you. If you get paid to be at work at a certien hour that is when you get paid. If they want you to work before or after that they are suppose to pay you more. I always turned up an hour early for my jobs myself. Which always seemed to surprise my boss.

I think that's silly. They should have at least taken in consideration your reasons for being late.

What if they had spent an inordinate amount of time on the can that morning? Would you give them a break AG if you were boss?
