I've been dating a girl for six months and we've finally come around to having sex.     could also be a form of female circumcision. I don't know exactly what that looks like but in some cultures, it is common to remove the inner lips, hood, clitoris, etc. You saying it looked scarred reminded me of that. I don't know. Good luck.
