Is it normal that i want to join the military as a grunt?

I come from a military family and always knew I would want to be in the military. I'm going to join for life (hopefully) in the Marine Corps. But my dad has been pushing me to go to college so I could enter as a higher ranked soldier rather than a grunt, but my problem is I WANT to be a grunt. I don't have a problem with going to college it's just the idea of being anything other than a grunt that bores me.

If you really want to be a grunt, Go be a grunt. Your father should know you can always get a college education later, especially cause the Gi bill will cover you. some people like being challenged, either physically or mentally.

I'm glad my family let me choose my own way, and isn't trying to convince me otherwise.

Honestly it just proves that A:the eduction system failed. B:you failed to make your self defense mechanisms.
The reason no one is going to arguing with you throwing away your life is because A:they pity you for being so ignorant of your surroundings and they know the military will at least put food in your belly and give you a roof which is one less thing they have to worry about. The grunts of this country keep our powerful corporations in the game. God bless you all.

maybe re-ask yourself that question after you've went through the "grunt" stage.

    Hoo-ra!

Former Navy chick here so... good luck in your military career. =)

And remember you can still do college too. That's what the GI bill is for after all.
