Is it normal that i want to have a friend who is smarter than i?

I'm a straight A student. I also have friends. But sometimes, to keep those friends... I don't want to say I dumb myself down, because I don't. But rather, I bury the intellectual part of me. If I always said things that were beyond my friends comprehension, there would be no point in me saying it, and they'd probably get confused or annoyed. I've met some equally smart people as I, and unfortunately, though we get along, we've never had the chance to get to know each other on a deeper level. Is it arrogant that I want someone to match me on an intellectual level? Is it normal?

A good challenge! yes! but, yeah, Its good to be with intelligent people, especially if they know things you dont, or if their views are different than yours. I always question things, and its a good challenge when someone questions my own. If you just insult me, I simply get mad.

It seems pretty normal. I think part of the reason we make friendships with people is to learn from them. There's not alot to learn from people who you have to dumb yourself down to hang around.

Get a friend who's a language buff (a language teacher would be great). That way, you can ask him the difference between "I" and "me" when used in a sentence.

So, it looks like you'd be a good new friend for the OP.
