Is it normal and a good idea to have a threesome with a girl friend of yours? We are both straight and thinking of doing it with a guy we know (nothing serious and no feelings involved).. Any advice from a girl who has done it?

Seriously, if you are both comfortable & it's not going to affect your friendship then go for it.
I suppose one possible problem is jealousy due to one girl being favored over the other so you need to be quite comfortable & emotionally stable

It sounds normal as a fantasy. Having a friend with you would reduce some of the fear and embarrassment and anxiety, if you are a shy person. And there is probably an element of excitement about two girls planning something like that.
But beware of two things: the guy might provoke competition and jealousy (if he wants to do lots of things with one girl but not so much with the other girl.
The other is that he'll be tempted to tell all his friends and then you'll be labeled.
Another point: before you actually try it, be sure that you can accept all of it: that means, if he does your friend and then wants to do it in your mouth, are you going to be ready to deal with the fact that you are going to be tasting your friend's bodily juices? If you can deal with all of the above, and find a guy who deal with you maturely, then it's normal for you and why not try it. You might start off with a heavy petting evening just as a trial run, and then discuss whether you want to go all the way the next night.
