Is it normal that i want to grow my hair to my waist?

Exactly 5 years ago my hair was 2 inches in length except for a bit tapering to my ears and the nape of my neck. Today, I have grown it to in between my shoulder blades. I want to grow my hair super long like a Native American Princess! My hairstylist tells me that how long I grow my hair depends on its terminal length. That is the length that is recorded in my hair folicle's DNA. Do you think she is right? Is it normal and is it realistic to want to grow my hair so long when no one in my family has done so before?

Its normal, I had the same goal for many years. But my terminal length was to the middle of my back l, for a few years, tried everything to get it longer. (I'm a chick btw) I couldn't, so I gave up and got a mowhawk. But badass if you can get it that long!

I wanna grow my hair to like, the middle of my back. I'm a little below my shoulders right now.

I think long hair is really pretty.

take care of your locks, that is all. The native american women look always works for me, but i have seen (non black) women who had a difficult time growing out their hair. I plan to donate mines (cause haircuts never work for me anyway) and i haven't seen it go past my waist yet but, I'm aiming for it. Been trimming over the last 5 years like 2 or 3 times in that frame, all i can say its either growing faster or time is moving faster

I have very thick chestnut brown wavy/ straight (depending on the day) hair. I love it though because it's so thick and I have so much of it it's a little hard to manage.

My hair won't grow much past my waist. But I usually keep it in the middle of my back, it grows fast. And when it gets too long it just wraps itself around my neck when I sleep. And sometimes it gets stuck in my armpits. And it is really annoying to wake up pinned to the bed because my husband is sleeping on it. Then I know it's time for a hair cut.

My sisters hair reaches almost to her knees and is very thick. I'm so jealous, because I could sit on mine once, but it all fell out when I started having children. It's still waist-length, but very thin :(

When I was much younger I tried that. The longest it ever got was in-between my shoulder blades. I couldn't get it any longer. I love really long hair when it's taken care of. Good luck!

Yeah, it's normal, mine's that length.

But I'm cutting mine short cuz I'm tired of it and it gets really hot and annoying in the summer.

It does depend on terminal length. Your hair will only grow so long before falling out and starting again. This is the reason eyelashes don't grown inches long as each hair has a lifespan, and will only grow to a certain length.
