Is it normal that i want to curse my flatmate out?!
Okay, so I moved into my flat / student accomodations about a month ago. It's really nice (my own bathroom & bedroom) but I have to SHARE A KITCHEN. Mind you, I don't mind sharing a kitchen... when other people know how to respect personal space.
I share the kitchen w/ the other 3 students on my floor (two other girls and a guy). The girls were really nice, but the guy was kind of two faced: when I met him he assumed that I didn't meet the girl across the hall way (just recently moved to the UK from Spain, spoke very little English, but was EXTREMELY kind; even helped me bring my groceries in one time). He said "she's weird, doesn't come out of her room, and I can't understand her. She's a freak" - amongst other things. Now, hearing all of this kind of took me by surprise; it seemed a bit juvenille coming from someone older than me & it made me wonder "What did he say to people about me."
I stood up for the girl and said I thought she was nice. He looked surprised & went on to say "No, she's weird! Look, she locks her food cupbord!" and proceeded to tug on the cupboard. When it opened he said "OMG! She finally unlocked it! Look at all this food in here!" When I said "That's my cupboard..." he had a "foot in mouth look". He said "Oh, this is your cupboard! Oh! Uh!" Just then our other flatmate came in and started talking, which changed the convo. I made a mental note that not only does he talk sh*t about people, but he doesn't respect privacy (I STILL KEEP MY CUPBOARD LOCKED THE HELL UP).
Now to the part that really ticks me off. I am a pretty easygoing guy and don't like confrontation. When everyone moved into student accomodations and given the tour of our living area, we were told that we will share a kitchen with 3 other people, and we each get a shelf in the fridge (which is TINY - almost like a damn mini fridge). We're not alowed to have fridges in our room, so that one shelf in the fridge (and one shelf in the freezer) is the only space to keep our perishable items. The 4th day I was there he had shoved all of his food onto his shelf AND mine, and pushed all of my food to the back. Last week my friend came over and was like "WTF!?" She took all of his food, put it back on his shelf, and wrote a note that said "[INSERT NAME]'s shelf. Please DO NOT MOVE MY FOOD". Last night I went to get something from the fridge, & the note was crumpled up & shoved to the back of my shelf.
BTW: the freezer has been taken over too. Everyone bought too much sh*t and I don't have a shelf in there!
My cousin's friend said that she had to stay in a dorm, & when that happened to her she took out everyone's food and threw it in the trash. She then left a nore that said "I, [NAME], threw all of you're f*cking food in the trash can because you don't know where to put it. If you have a problem w/ it, I'm down the hall in room ***" and no one ever said anything.
What do you guys think!? >:[
Am I being irrational or is it normal to be pissed off now?
