Is it normal that i want to be with someone forever, but not date?

There is this girl, that I like being with more than anyone else in the world. She is always there for me. She is beautiful, and kind.

She is everything I've ever looked for in a girlfriend. And I want to be with her forever. We live together. We have a dog together. When I get sick, she cares for me. We pool our money, and get things together. We pay rent together, we cook together. She always says stuff like " Don't worry about it. We're going to be together forever, and the people we date, are just going to have to be okay with that."

I have never been happier. But I have never had the urge to actually, BE with her. Like date, sleep, marry, ect. And there have been times, for both of us, where the people who we are actually dating make an ultimatum. "It's me or her" and we've always chosen each other.

It's been difficult to date, because girls get scared of our situation, and how beautiful she is, and end up jealous. Which I can understand. She's everything I could ever want in a woman, but I just don't have that urge to actually date her. And she feels the same way.

Is that normal? Can it last?

you might be hurt when she arrives one day with her boyfriend and is like this: "Hey Tim umm this is Mat"
so that would suck.. so better clear things up..
i think the feeling you have towards her is called love.
so just work your way up to secure your life with her.

I've done that. Doesn't bother me. In response to that, I say, " Hey mat" and continue my life. I don't get jealous when she dates. It really, honestly doesn't bother me.

Sounds like she's already brought boyfriends home and he hasn't had a problem with it.

Believe it or not, someone could be very close to another person without actually being in love with them or attracted to them.

You sound like extremely good friends.
I really don't see a problem with this relationship, but others might because of the differences in gender.

If you both were girls, nothing would be said about it.

It's normal, I don't see how it's not. You wanting to date her might be like me wanting to date my best girlfriend. Not going to happen... but I love her, and will always be there for her, and I really do enjoy her company.

Wo, This is so weird!! If you guys like each other so much, I don't understand why you don't like her as something else though :o But it's so nice to have a relationship like that ;)

Oh so you're THAT guy. The really close friend who her boyfriends forbid her from seeing because they think something else is going on.

A relationship like this can't go on forever because somewhere along the line someone is going to get jealous - be it you, her, or one of your significant others. But I guess no friendship lasts forever anyway.

I think this happens when you're VERY physically unattracted but are very good together, am I right?

Not really. She's really pretty. Very attractive. But I just don't like her like that.
