I'm sorry, but your "description" is largely based on stereotype. I suggest you read up on it, before you start wishing.... "schizophrenia for dummies" is a good one. It names all of
the symptoms and debunks the myths.

To wish you were mentally ill, is a bit normal to some extent. I think I always wanted to be a bit "crazy" and now I've begun to come with the terms that I most likely have it.
My worry that I have it is not a random wish. I've had just about all of the symptoms since I was a child.... It has caused me allot of problems. The people I know seem to turn a blind eye or just refuse to believe my concerns. All this time, people keep misdiagnosing me and it keeps getting worse....

Are you sure that you really want to have it?!

Wanting shizophrenia is like asking Satan to let all Hell break loose inside your mind. You might as well stock up on bath salts. I don't know if you think it would be cool, or it would make you more popular, or increase people's attention towards you, or whatever reason you may want it... Many shizophrenics that have lost control are locked up in insane asylums and psyho wards, and in extreme cases- living through the horrors of solitary confinement when unable to control shizophrenic behavior. I'd never wish such a living hell on me or my worst enemy. Wanting a mental illness is undenyably disgusting. Loosing touch with reality is a very horrific thing not a "cool experience..." or whatever you may think. And arguably, shizophrenia is one of the worst mental illnesses known to man, so I'd reconsider and probably see a psychiatrist- because I'm not sure if you are mentally stable anyhow. May God watch over you.

this is the very thing I'm afraid of... I have anxiety.

I've never wanted to be crazy, but I ended up there anyway! Ever since I was a kid I've had a desire for normalcy.

Lol if you want to hear voices/see things, try LSD. Bad trips can mimic psychosis.

Do you even know what schizophrenia really is? Such irony should not be taken seriously. But..I will try to make it clear for you.

My uncle was diagnosed as schizophrenic, he lived completely alone far from everyone he used to know for years until he set the house on fire. he survived lived a few years in a hopsital and lived the rest with pills. You don't want to be like that trust me.

I must say it has it's advantages.
Most of which turn in disadvantages due to,well,a bunch of things. I read a book recently, written by somebody who went himself through the onset of schizophrenia, he believes that at some extent the natural lack of self centered thinking ability characteristic of many schizophrenic people could almost be considered some sort of super insights. The most dangerous stereotype about schizophrenics is the one wanting them dumb and uncapable of thinking, when in reality, they can reach levels of preparation about specific subjects rather quickly, and reach unexpected conclusions to which not even the brightest sane scientist would think about. Not to mention the potential high level of creativity they often display. The author of the book, thought schizophrenics tended to become dangerous to themselves and others only when misguided. Very interesting reading indeed. The title is: schizophrenia the positive perspective. in search of dignity for schizophrenic people.

Schizophrenia, is a serious matter not something to joke around about, it's an awful disease. That's awful to wish you had it, it ruins my life, believe me, you don't want it.

I have schizophrenia and I can tell you right now you really don’t want it. I’ve had it since I was about 14 (I am 17 now) and it’s awful. You know that eerie and unsettling feeling you get when you feel like someone is watching you? Imagine feeling like that all the time. No matter where you are. Plus to make it worse you hear voices and see things that make it all the more real, all while everyone around you Tells you you’re just crazy. It’s a horrible thing to go through and you’ll have to take meds for the rest of your life. Take it from me, it’s not what people romanticize it to be.

If you havent researched about it then you should, if you have then i think its completely normal, everyone wants to be special, different, unique or even weird. Dont worry about it, your not alone, i have always wanted to have a mental illness, (it wasnt for attention), although being a schizo wasnt number 1 on my list it certainly was in the top 10's, i have also wanted to go to insane asylum, although this might be because im a bit of a masochist but whatev's.

Please dont waste your time commenting 'its horrible to have, trust me you dont want it', and stuff like that, i know what i want, i want to have a mental illness, and im sorry if you dont feel the same ;)

She or he asked if it was normal to want to have schizophrenia not if it was fun to have ADD, mild anxiety, ADHD and OCD, he or she was just asking a question.

Don't wish you had it...it's horrible! A good equivalent without it being permanent is magic mushrooms or acid...;)

everyone has something wrong with them. some more than others. in fact, everyone is screwed up in someway or another.

  • I've been diagnosed with numerous things and was on some crazy dosages of medication for 9 months. Only to find out they were all wrong. The docs were scandelous, decieving greedy inbreds that tortured me for nine months. I was in mental hospitals, for two weeks at a time. Fuck psychiatry. Most doctors I have learned will diagnose anyone with anything if they can. It brings money into there pockets. You can be diagnosed with skitzophrenia if you see any psychiatrist in Kansas city MO.
    FUCK THAT SHIT.

My brother is schizophrenic. I remember he used to hear things and he thought that the cat was a robot that was there to spy on him. He used to constantly worry that his food is being poisoned by "them".

He also had these delusions that he was actually a prince that was constantly monitored and kept at a normal house by evil people and tried to break away from the 'prison'. Then there was a phase where he thought that he was the prophet of Ahura Mazda (the word for god in the Zorastrian religion).

He got better after taking a cocktail of medicines, but then my parents didn't force him to take his meds for awhile. He stopped taking them immediately and then went over to my mom's brother's house where they were into all this new age bible thinking where they tried to 'cure' him with prayer for a week. Yeah...that worked lol. Anyway, found him under a table shivering due to the chemical imbalance.

He now takes a revolutionary new drug (that only works for about 25% of patients) and is now working as an editor at a magazine ten years after starting to take the drug. Pretty cool huh?

Anyway...my point is that you definitely don't want to be a schizophrenic

I think you want to have a defining difference, but you probably do want to read up on schizophrenia. There are other fantasies of being different that you should wish for instead.

  • I was diagnosed with psycho-social tendencies, not being fully aware of their environment that they reside in. Coupled with zero empathy means I had to take thorazine for years.

Its not fun being mentally sick you shouldnt wish for it.

All I have to say about this subject matter is that I think you might want to rethink this.

I have a cousin whom I've barely ever spoken a word to, and he has basically gone off the deep end. Our family doesn't have contact with him and it's really unfortunate. I know he has used drugs before. To this day, I don't know how he's doing, what job he is doing, and whatnot.

That is not to say I am downing all people who have the condition. I KNOW for a fact (to add what Dozis was saying) that it has it's creative advantages. Usually, people with schizophrenia are brilliantly minded. Just look at John Nash, subject of the film 'A Beautiful Mind'

I agree that is has it's disadvantages, BUT, there are still dangerous factors to the disorder.

Not weird... Sometimes I've felt this way but for different reasons. You don't just have the positive symptoms though.

It's no fun hearing things although if you're lonely and they're pleasant sounds they can be comforting.
