Is it normal that i want to be more successful than my mother?

I'm currently studying to get a GED (dropped out of HS). However, once I get it, I plan on going to college and getting a degree. My mother has a Bachelor's but I want to get a PhD. I'm not going to do it because I want to be "better" than her I just want to achieve something she herself couldn't due to her parents (It'll be kind of like achieving a bit of her dream for her). It's probably wierd I want such a high degree for a job that'll only require a Bachelor's. IIN?

    Competitive, huh?

Don't worry. Our society loves competitive people.

    Good luck.

It is interesting that you dropped out of HS in the first place. This is not the normal route to higher education. Of course if you have the ability, go for it. Hopefully, you're not trying catch the "ball" before it is thrown. Good luck!
