Is it normal that i want to be anorexic for attention?

Is it normal that I want to be anorexic for attention, not to be skinny? I know I'm not the thinnest girl ever, but that's not why I want to be anorexic. If I started, I'm pretty sure I could stop straight away. I've tried it before, any my friends told me to eat more, but no one really cared. If I did it again, but went all the way this time, I'd get more attention. Don't tell me not to, I just want to know if my feelings are something that most people have thought before, or if I'm weird.
Thanks

Anorexia isn't all about wanting to be skinny - it's also a lot of other psychological drives. I'm sure in some people wanting attention is one factor. As far as anorexia is normal, wanting to be it for attention is also normal.

Even so, don't do it. There are much less dangerous ways to get attention.

No, you self-centred cunt. Anorexia is a serious condition and faking it for attention is one of the lowest things you can do.

You can't just CHOOSE to become anorexic, it's a disease not a choice.... You need to get over yourself!

I get the feeling that you have emotional needs in your life that aren't being met, and that's why you are considering doing this. Why don't you try to gain attention in more positive ways, like by becoming skilled in a hobby such as arts, crafts, playing an instrument, etc? Trust me, it feels great when people acknowledge your work, even if your mom's the only one who appreciates your work.

No, it's not normal, but I have the same thoughts. Try to get attention some other way. Learn a new skill. Learn Mandarin, do knitting, do a choreography, etc...

I'll never understand people like you. In fact, it makes me upset that some people think that its a joke or cool when in reality it is anything but that. Its far from it. I had anorexia and my last bought with it almost killed me or at least could have sent me to the hospital. Its a brutal illness that warps every aspect of yourself. People who have it keep trying to reach a goal that can never be attained. Often times the people who have it are too sick to realise that fact and the people around them that do realize it often worsen the situation because they don't know hoe to deal with it.

^^^ If this doesn't knock some sense into you, a therapist or a nutritionist certainly will!

I think you know that most people's answer isnt going to be yes. If what youve said is all true, I'm sure you already know this is a difficult path to follow and you probably wouldn't even be considering it if you were happy with your life. You don't say why this is your decision though. I assume you've looked at other ways of getting the attention you feel you need - however, there are literally hundreds of better ways out there.

you want to endanger your health because you want attention? why dont you learn to juggle and get attention from developing a skill that you got from dedication and it will make you fit and cool

I have a feeling that u feel like no one cares. believe me. i have felt like it too. in the end the person u thought cared the most probably cated the least and the person u thought didnt care really did. just saying. there is always someone who cares

Very unlikely you will be able to succeed at this plan. Most Anorexics have difficulty with food from very young ages. It is a mental illness that I feel could not be developed at will.

I would imagine if you had the willpower to truly develop a life threatening mental disorder purely from choice then you wouldn't be attention seeking in the first place.

You are normal for a female, it's the typical girl mentality to fake things in order to manipulate people into getting what you want.
