Is it normal that i want to ask my boyfriend if he would ever marry me

Never ask a question to which you might not like the answer. This is one of those questions.

If he says yes, then you're essentially assuming an engagement and will start to think about when you might get married, when you might get a ring, how many kids he might want, and so forth. Your relationship is no longer about enjoying one another's company; it's about Building A Future Together, and that can change things.

If he says no...well, you'd be devastated, wouldn't you? Even if he just wasn't sure because he didn't plan on marrying until well after college or something, you'd still feel hurt if he said anything but yes.

It's normal to think about marrying and to wonder if that's what your future holds, but asking about it can create friction that doesn't need to be in the relationship.

It's normal to want to ask, but never a good idea, unless you are just taking the lead and asking him to marry you. Good luck with your choices!

I would probably never have the guts to ask that question.Especially after hearing these comments.But I have been thinking.And i just dont understand why it has become such a forbidden thing to ask.Why cant people just be straight up? Why do guys "run for the hills" when there girlfriend asks them this question? Its just strange to me. Why would you want to be with some one that you dont see a future with.I don't get it.And I also should have probably rephrased my question.
