Is it normal that i want a bromance?

I'm straight, 18 years old, I'm male, and was wondering if what I'm about to tell you is really bizzare or not ..
So most of my friends are girls (I have like 4 male friends) so I never really get to hangout with any other males 1 on 1 platonically. But I met this guy from my grade at a party recently and he's like really touchy but I'm 100% sure he's straight. and he would always cone up to me and hug me at random parts of the night and I don't know why but I kind of liked the hugs for some reason, it wasn't a romantic feeling, but it just felt good to me.. and after this party he's been hanging around me at school and starting to talk to all my friends that are close to me, and he asked me to hangout next weekend (I think he meant just the two of us but idk) and so I said yes because he's a nice guy.. I've never really had a close guy friend before but since the party I've really been wanting one.. kind of like a "bromance" I guess
so what I'm asking is if it's normal for me to want this kind of platonic relationship with a close guy friend that involves hugs and life chats and all that stuff? (And I am 100% straight, so don't say I am, although there's nothing wromg with being gay :) )
