Is it normal that i wake up when something goes wrong in my house?

my dad has diabetes. whenever he has hypoglycemia, I wake up, although he is in another room with my mother and they never make so much noise. i always wake up immediately when he has hypoglycemic episodes. is there an explanation for that?

    I suppose it must be normal.

    I sometimes wake up and pick up my phone just before it starts ringing.
