Is it normal that i view most americans as fat, lazy and stupid?

I don't want to offend anyone here. It's just all the Americans I've met personally seem to never shut-up long enough to listen to the actual conversation, majority are disgustingly obese and cheap looking. Broadcasting shows like cops and springer do no justice here either. With jails overflowing and a poor excuse for a healthcare system I feel pity for about 5 seconds, that is short lived due to the simple fact that your footy players feel the need to pad themselves up for 'protection' just to do abit of dry humping on the field.
Also whats the go with all the guns ?

  • Well, we have generalizations for a reason. For instance, it IS a fact, that the most amusing porn comes from Germany, AND the best sex dolls come from Japan. (And I would know, as I've spent hours using both of those things).

I've lived in several countries and am not a natural born American, but I do have dual citizenship. I have to say, I've met equal amounts of shitty Americans as other nationalities elsewhere. And honestly, as great as some other places are, I really have grown to be content in the U.S., and can't see me living any place else. Certain regions I'd avoid, but the same can be said for South Africa and Britian, and Mexico, where I've also lived.

I'm also a gun owner. I don't go around killing animals and driving around with a Confederate flag, wearing a tattered Lynrd Skynrd tee-shirt, either... As I've said a million times, if somebody were to break into my home, I'd have a much easier time influencing them to get out with a shotgun in my hand, than just asking nicely. It's a powerful form of protection, but not something I feel I need to run through the streets shooting, while screaming "yee-haw!!" Just because we're allowed to own guns, doesn't mean we're pro-violence, or "gun hungry." I sincerely hope I NEVER have to use mine.

Speaking of generalizations though, the French really do stink... But they do have the best mother fucking cheese on the planet.

      I love this answer.

But I can see where you are coming from. But like what ELB it's the same everywhere. I do wish our nation could be more hard working but it sure seems to be going the other way. But there are the really hard working Americans too. So I agree and disagree on your opinion.

I can tell you that I'll never be one of the Americans you are describing, even though it is fun to be lazy at times.

Its normal, its also completly incorrect. Like how the British all have bad teeth and arr pompus self absorbed elitists. Stereotypes are often widley believed, and rarley ever true.

While I may be large and rather lazy, at least I have the mental power to change both of these weaknesses.

How many Americans have you actually met? As opposed to seen on TV? I'm not American but have had good experiences face-to-face with Americans. Maybe I've been lucky, or maybe they're actually nice people.

P.S. I'm never lucky. Not in my nature. I think they must be okay.

It is normal to think this but it is just a stereotype created by pop culture and the media, such things shouldn't be taken seriously.

I have to agree with the way that you view most Americans. However, it's possible that the only places that you've been to in America is Texas. Not all of us are as you mentioned, but I'll admit that with the way this country is going it's only a matter of time before we become an idiotacracy.

I've met plenty of passport-owning Americans, either here in Britain or in a few other countries, and they've been intelligent and worldly people in the main. I think Hollywood and American television produces tat for the passport-free masses that gives the rest of the world a false impression that everybody there is stupid.
One thing that does seem true though, is that America's stupid people seem to have far less knowledge of the world outside their country than other countries' stupid people!
Regarding the gun culture, I suppose the nation was founded on the things.. Not many countries are younger than the invention of the revolver and the rifle! The very tools the European invaders used to steal the land of the existing inhabitants were bound to be central to their constitution.

The only thing I think is sad about most Americans is that they don't have passports to go on adventures with :)

Completely normal. Anyone who is still proud of this country are the moronic sheep that have been brainwashed by greed and capitalism. There's not an original thought in the vast majority's heads. As for fat, it depends if that family can afford food; the ones that can eat too much, while the ones that can't die on the streets. We try to sweep it under the rug so we can keep pretending we're the best. America sucks and it's hard to escape when every country hates you, and for good reason.

  • If the typical American is Walmart shopper, then go see the freak show at any of those stores and you'll find the weirdest people from pencil-thin geeks to 600-pound behemoth women riding around on electric carts.

I am an American, and I am proud of it. I do not fulfill any of the lame specifications you generalized. Football is a good sport, it really doesn't matter to me if you appreciate it or not. I enjoy shooting guns, and always have. If I want to own a gun, then by gosh, I will because it's my right as an American!
