Is it normal that i used to think this when i first joined on iin?

I remember 7 months ago, from when I joined the site I used to think some users were the two same users and then as soon as the months progressed I knew they were two entirely different people, for e.g. me from 7 months ago used to think olderdude-xx was Boojum, only to come to realisation in my head that they were two different people.

Despite being grown and attached to this website my thought from 7 months ago I still remember it.

  • To be fair they both say really similar things, with the same amount of text. Easy mistake.

Well you do get shadow banned. I'm probably on there since none of my posts get any traffic dispite being "hot" topics which would normally cause an uptick in at least a few people.

Just one or two. Enough that I wouldnt get suspicious about being shadow banned thankfully I'm paranoid about the ban hammer so i see this clearly.

I also use to confuse the 2. Both have similar views on alot of things and sometimes write a long comment.

Really, people! It's not like my mini-essays clog up every single thread here. If they bother you, feel free to visualise me as that dishevelled, old homeless guy you see standing on the corner constantly muttering to himself on your way to work or school. You'd just walk by him, right? So scroll on when you encounter one of my walls of text.

If I know I don't have anything useful to say in response to a question asked here, I don't comment at all (often I don't even vote). When a question catches my attention, I have enough respect for the questioner that I try to give an answer they'll find helpful or at least give them a different perspective to consider. Life and people are complicated, and a lot of questions just can't be answered with a string of emojis or a couple of lines of text.

And, no, olderdude and Boojum are not alternate personas of the same person.

I've been on social media since before it was even called that: back in ancient times when the only way you could interact with other people on the newfangled interweb thingie was by using your dial-up modem to get on a BBS. In all that time, I've never once used a sock puppet account since I've never felt the need to create faux drama or deliberately stir up conflict.

If olderdude and I seem similar, I suspect that's only because our journeys through life have probably been similar in some ways, and after interacting with people and watching the world change for more than six decades, we've reached some of the same conclusions.

"... watching the world change for six decades ..."

You just nailed the common element of enriched personalities. Lol. With humility that I have painfully learned over time, I will say that my mathematic orientation has allowed for an in depth comprehension of stuff that most people just don't get. The downside is that it causes selective perception that filters out the vibrance of social dynamics, et all. That's why I hope my moderate political views are tolerable for you. I really depend on your well articulated rants to highlight stuff that I have missed over the years.
