"Pro-life" is just an euphemism for "I want to decide what other people do with their life!". So no, it's not normal.
Please do not use -ists or -isms.
I do not know why 'eupheme' does not exist in the English language, but you could use the phrase 'euphemized term', or 'euphemizer', instead.
Thank you.
I disagree with your point. English is a flexible language. The word "googling" doesn't exist either, but it's way more practical in use than "use Google as a search engine". Same goes with "euphemism", everyone knows what I want to express with it, so it's fine.
Incorrect.
"Googling", does now appear in the Merriam-Webster dictionary.
As I had stated previously, I do not know why 'eupheme' and 'euphemic' do not appear in the dictionary, as these are actually closer to the etymological root.
This -ism is not that much of a problem, but others are.
I think that we should all start using 'eupheme' or 'euphemic', although it's improper, and change the usage through popularization.
Origin: Greek euphēmismos, from euphēmos auspicious, sounding good, from eu- + phēmē speech, from phanai to speak — more at ban.
First use: circa 1681
Yeah, people change their minds. Personally, I used to be pro-life except for rape and incest but after learning about the hell rape victims often have to go through to prove it in court, I changed my mind.
Yes, people change their minds all the time. I was pro-life when I was a kid. Then I became an adult, learned about the issue, then changed my mind.
