Is it normal that i throw up a lot?

For a couple years now, I have been throwing up more than ever. I have been puking on average once every couple weeks. I never threw up that much before a couple years ago but I still have that problem but its gotten a little better.

    Hello there,

Sounds like a tough one for you!

I had a friend in my teens who threw up every month, more or less. She got sick from nothing noticable - it was just out of the blue, apparently. As far as I know (although we fell out, and I emigrated) she didn't do anything about it.

First and foremost, I'd recommend chatting with your doctor to check that there's nothing serious going on. Chances are it's nothing too bad - but it's worth making sure, just in case.

Your doctor may investigate into food allergies - lactose, egg, meats, wheat, gluten, soya, casein etc - or look at other aspects of your diet.
You may be examined for gastric reflux, and other stomach/gastro-intestinal issues such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), peptic ulders, kidney stones or constipation.
Perhaps blood tests will be necessary, too - nothing drastic.
Whatever the outcome, please visit the doctor - it's what doctors are there for, after all.

Good luck, and remember - feel free to contact me with any questions or advice!

    xx

Hi. im the one who wrote this story. I am 18 years old and I threw up today and i usually feel really sleepy when i throw up. i'm not sure if sleepiness causes puking or if puking causes sleepiness. or neither or both. Do most people have sleepiness along with having to puke?

        Hello there,

It seems like you're having a terrible time right now!

Have you spoken with a medic regarding your throwing up?
Perhaps it'd be the best bet - some people online are great, but they're definitely not a substitute for professional doctors.
Before I go on, I must stress the issue a little more (just to feel like I've done my duty!)
When a medical concern is troubling you, advice from even the most knowledgable of people online cannot make you better! Nor are they capable of giving you a proper diagnosis - they're just speculating.
However, picking up handy tips from cyberspace can be fantastic - provided you also seek medical advice.

Tiredness cannot bring on vomiting - it can make you dizzy, perhaps give you a bit of a headache, but that's it.
Throwing up is hard work for the body; all that coughing and heaving might leave you feeling tired out afterwards.
As the mother of 5-year-old twins, I know that my two often sleep after a round of sickness.

I hope this gives you some ideas - and remember! Get to that doctor!

Feel free to ask any questions!

        Best of luck!

        xx

I went to a doctor a month ago. He said i have cerebral palsy because my muscles are really tense. But i don't know if that's right. I've been having doctors check my reflexes since i was little and none of them said i had cerebral palsy but he didn't check it the same way as any of my other doctors ever did. But when i went to the doctor a few weeks ago, it was the first time i've been to the doctors for a full physical since a few years ago. My height is 5 feet 1 inch and my weight is 107 pounds. That's a good bmi but i also have scoliosis so i don't know if bmi charts are the same for people with that disease. My blood pressure is 118 over 62. My mom said that's the perfect blood pressure.

Just see a doctor. I mean there are so many possible things a single symptom could be linked to, ranging from allergies to stress to all kinds of bacteria, viruses, etc. If you haven't noticed anything else seriously out of the ordinary, then it is most likely not something "serious". Just remember: the more you investigate, the more you will find.

It is worth seeing a doctor about, definitely. The acidity from throw up is bad for your esophagus (the tube running down your throat and into your stomach) as well as your teeth.
ThePurplePixie is right in her assessment, it's most likely one of those. I had Reflux that made me very sick for a while and I just ignored it.
The body was made to run smoothly with it's own system. You shouldn't be in pain or sick in any fashion. That only happens when something bad is introduced to the body, whether that be a sickness or an imbalance in your body. It's clearly more than just having a stomach flu because it has been so long which means it's probably an imbalance but MAYbe something more serious. Don't worry too much but do get it checked out as soon as possible. Your doctor will most likely be very surprised that it took you this long to come forward to him/her about it. If they chastise you for it, try not to take it to heart. But learn from your mistakes. You may have damaged your body by ignoring whatever this is and, although this one is slowly dissipating, if it had been something else like a lump in your breast tissue that you were ignoring, it could've meant a life-threatening problem.
It's ok to want to be more holistic and use less medicines or to want to save money or to even be afraid of doctors but not at the expense of risking your health, ok?
    Please see a doctor.

Go to a doctor if you don't know what's causing it.
