Is it normal that i think this is the only explanation?

I'm an 18 yr. old guy, and my best friend is a 14 yr. old girl. We live in two different parts of America, and we've only known each other for a month.

But, in this month, I've grown to care for her like I've never cared about anyone else. I'm an atheist, and this is the only time in my whole life I've felt like praying.

Her life sucks. She has PTSD from traumatic events, and for some reason we relate. We've visited the most personal aspects of each other's life, and it feels like we've known each other forever.

The only explanation I can think of is that our spirits were meant to be paired together. From day 1 it felt as if I had talked to her many times before, maybe in a past life?

IDK, I know this all sounds crazy. Is any of this normal?

It's cool but keep your pants on till she's old enough, cooz after 3 years in prison you'll have PTSD.

Sometimes very good connection and close friendship transcends age, sex and geography. Distance can even make it easier to have a confidant, because it means you only have to talk to them exactly when and how you want to.

You can make sense of it how you will.

I know what you mean about those "special connections". In certain ancient cultures, there was the belief that everyone was born with an invisible string, which represented their life. If the string was short that meant that they would have a short life. A long life would be granted if the string was long. More specifically, in Chinese folklore, there was something called,"The Red String of Fate". The gods tied the string to those who you were destined to meet. More specifically, it also tied you to the one who you were meant to be with. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_string_of_fate

I'm not saying that the two of you are meant to be together, because I don't know. My point is, perhaps you two were destined to meet. You came into her life at the time that she probably needed it most.

People click. That's a thing. Not sure what you mean by intertwined spirits, but yeah, it's totally normal to like someone, even one younger than yourself.

Actually, in some ways I think you should think about why this would necessarily have to be a strictly platonic relationship. You're clearly attracted to her emotionally; and depending on how far through adolescence you are, the thing you're calling "intertwined spirits" might just be nascent sexuality. Do you think it's age that's barring you mentally from physical attraction for her? Actually, if this is a long distance relationship, have you even seen her, like through Skype or anything? Also, when you're both older do your foresee yourself having the potential to fall in love with her? In the grand scheme of adult life, a 4-year age gap is a drop in the bucket.

Those are questions for you to answer exclusively for yourself, not ones for my sake. Any advice I could give on stuff like that would be just me guessing anyway.
