It is a symbol. Something that a person should take pride in. Saving yourself for marriage is important. It is also a very personal decision. You should just worry about yourself, and not someone else's sex life.

I it's serious i can relate to it (kinda). I hardly know anyone who wears one (i live in Holland). Maybe it's an American thing. For instance: i find it really hard to believe that kids like Miley Cyrus are still virgins because of a ring. I mean really?

Its just another method of control in my mind. Parents trying to control their childs sexual choices, but it usually doesnt work.
I knew a lot of girls that wore them (and they were the ones who introduced the idea to their parents) so that their parents wouldnt think they were doing anything (but they SOOOO were)- so basically, they used it to manipulate their parents

I don't like it either. A ring can't stop anyone having sex, and if you don't want sex you don't need to tell everyone. If just puts pressure on kids to conform to something which they don't necessarily understand or believe in.

The ring doesn't matter, it's the commitment to oneself that matters. I really doubt someone is going to need a ring to remind them if they make that sort of commitment.

that shows that its a commitment, something not alot of people have because they get bored or horny, no loyality now a days. People are selfish and cant be ok with one person or one thing. The ring it self does almost nothing...its the promise made to get the ring.
