Is it normal that i think ruby gloom should't be so lame?

i have netflix and i watching some episodes of ruby gloom which i like the animation, it's easy on the eyes like my little pony is, but it's sooo lame, the story line is very lame, why why why? i thought it was cool because it was like a gothic cartoon, i just wish there were better more wittier cartoons i suppose, i think i ask too much out my cartoons. is it normal to think that lots of cartoons are just so lame and you don't get why they are so lame and you want them to be better? have you ever had this? what shows do you think are lame?

    Sometimes cartoons like those are made to be less complex so children can understand them better.

    If it's easier to make a plain story, they would do it because children are still pleased with it.

    I find a lot of the older children's cartoons are more cleverly written, but that's just me.
