Is it normal that i think racial profiling is ok?

If the majority of the terrorists today are Arabs, why is it wrong to profile them that way?
If most of the illegal aliens are Latin Americans, why is it wrong to pull them over and check their papers?
If most of the petty crime in America is perpetrated by blacks, then why is it wrong to check out blacks around the scene of a crime most likely perpetrated by a black?
All this crap about racial profiling amazes me, when it seems a perfectly logical place to begin enforcing the laws and protecting the safety of this country.
Nobody said that the officers involved should be anything less than courteous, professional and pleasant, but if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then perhaps it is a duck...

    Okay then. Let's put the boot on the other foot:

    White people are more likely than black people to abuse drugs in America*. So would it be wrong to stop and search white people for drugs? The answer is, of course, "yes, that would be wrong". Why? Because most white people are not dependent on drugs. In exactly the same way that most Arabic people are not terrorists, most black people not criminals and most Latin Americans not illegal immigrants. The fact is that race is a weak correlator with crime, and it's much better to direct efforts at finding people who have committed actual crimes than it is to guess "well, he *looks* like a criminal".

    Just cause some ducks do illegal stuff, doesn't mean we should treat all ducks like second-class citizens. Ducks deserve the same right to presumption of innocence as the rest of us :P

      Can you honestly say that when you see an obviously Arabic man with a back pack in an airport or other public place with lots of people around, you don't have a second's thought that he might be there to cause havoc?
      I have traveled to many Arab countries and have had a wonderful time. They are the most hospitable people, as a group, I have ever met on earth. Even when I sailed into Saudi Arabia illegally (they do not permit tourism, period), I was treated as an honored guest.
      But today, much to my shame, whenever I see an obviously Arabic man with a back pack in an airport or other public place with lots of people around, for a moment I do have the thought that perhaps he is a terrorist. It's horrible because no Arab man has ever been unkind or inhospitable to me. But there it is.

    I guess that depends on your idea of what makes someone a terrorist. Depends on your prospective.

    I assume you mean most illegal immigrants to the U.S., not worldwide. The number going back south of the border and the number coming across reached net zero. Which means no extra people are coming in. Also, there are plenty of illegals here from China, Vietnam, India, Europe, etc. If you add them all up they might even outnumber the Latin Americans.

    Your 3rd point is just flat out incorrect. With population percentages by race it is a numerical impossibility. Perhaps the percentages may be higher (even the highest), I am not sure about that.

    Basically, you can spin stuff however you want. It doesn't make it true. If anyone believes such spins, they are just stupid. Enough said.

      I was talking about terrorists threatening the US, at this time.
      I meant to stipulate the south western states and perhaps Texas, I just forgot.

" I have absolutely no idea the point you are trying to make. Are you honestly saying if a perp is reported as being black, in an area frequented by blacks, then it is not right to check on blacks in the area around the crime scene? How can that be just flat out incorrect?

        The incorrect part is "most of the petty crime in America is perpetrated by blacks". That is just not true. Black people make up around 15% of the population. So even if every black person was a criminal, the numbers still don't add up.

          Funny though, 39% of our prison population is black; is that all just racism?

      I don't disagree with you at all in principle at all, but in reality, I doubt some 60 year old Jewish woman would have a bomb strapped to her chest. So she must be searched just to keep everyone happy?
      Come on, let's get a little bit real in this day and age and perhaps an ounce of prevention will save a pound of cure.

    You can't say that most of the petty crime is committed by black people when black people are more likely to be pulled over than a white person. Think about the process of recording those statistics for a while. Ignorance.
